Being in another country, it's so fun to look around and just observe little things! Most of the time, we walk to places and this gives me lots of opportunities to understand the city of Dublin and also see the differences and similarities between Dublin and where I am from, the U.S.A. There are some things that I noticed that are worthy of noting.
First one is how the roads are. Back in the States, our streets and roads are smooth enough so this leads to having many stake-boards. However, in Dublin, the streets and even the roads are really rough and they have tiles rather than one connected roads and they also have cobbled streets, so it makes me wonder maybe this is why there aren't that many skate-boarders in Dublin? I have seen maybe one or two people with skate-boards.
Second and third fun facts that I learned when I was on the Hop-on and Hop-off bus with the nice bus driver who said hi and bye with a big smile were that as you go up the building, the size of windows decreases. Bigger window means you live on the lower floor, which means your window has more glass, which means you pay more taxes, and this leads to the conclusion that you are probably a person with some money to spare. Another fact is that the reason home doors are all different colors is that back in the day, post offices used colors of the door to deliver letters instead of the street address.
Last thing I noticed was that the buses here are really high, which is understandable for Double Deckers, but unique for just regular buses. I was wondering perhaps the reason might be that since it's a small country, and because it has to fit many things, they make buses taller but smaller in width? To accommodate their small roads and streets?
